TEXTURE AND FINISH
NARS Light Reflecting Foundation has a water-based and silicone-free formula that makes the texture land somewhere between a fluid and a serum. It’s lightweight, silky, and easy to blend. Whether you use a brush, sponge, or your fingers, it smooths on effortlessly. No streaks. No patchiness.
As for the finish, it has a soft, radiant glow. It’s luminous without being too shiny. Glowy without the glitters. Dewy without the slip.
SHADE + UNDERTONE SELECTION
NARS always brings range, and the Light Reflecting line is no different. With 49 shades to choose from and a solid spectrum of undertones, it’s easy to find a match, especially if you’re familiar with their Soft Matte or Sheer Glow lines.

FRAGRANCE AND STINGING

So let me tell you my shade-matching ritual. Head to Sephora with a clean face, apply the shade all over (not just a swatch), then go about your day. After at least 2 hours, check your skin in natural light. That’s when you’ll know if the shade is truly yours or if it turned on you.

Zero flashback. I tested it using my iPhone 12 and Nikon Z30 under studio lighting, and even on medium-deep skin tones, there was no grey or white cast.
LONGEVITY

It still blends beautifully. Still wears like skincare. Still feels like something I want on my face, even on low-energy days when a full beat feels like too much.
Did it work across every skin type I tested? Mostly yes, especially dry to combination. No breakouts, no weird texture shifts.
Is it the one foundation to rule them all? Not quite. But it absolutely earns its place when glow, comfort, and real-world longevity matter more than full-glam perfection.
The Verdict
The NARS Light Reflecting Foundation delivers exactly what it promises. It gives radiant, breathable coverage with skincare ingredients and a skin-like finish that wears well through heat, humidity, and long days.
That said, it’s not for everyone. If you’re oily and looking for full oil control or one-swipe full-glam coverage, this probably isn’t your match.
As someone in my early 30s with dry-to-combo skin, I’ve noticed that this foundation wears differently depending on age and skin condition.
If you’re in your early 20s with oily skin, it might lean greasy fast. But if you’re in your 40s and still lean oily, this formula could surprise you. I tested it on a 37-year-old friend, and it actually looked matte on her. The same product won’t behave the same way on everyone!
