About Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Sun Cream
What does Dokdo mean? And why is it in this sunscreen’s name?
Dokdo is the Korean name of a group of islets called Liancourt Rocks. The water in this sunscreen is claimed to be extracted from the 5,000-foot-deep sea water surrounding Dokdo! Can you imagine their effort if these were true?
I have a little trivia for you. Deep sea water is acquired from a depth of 200 meters or 656 feet below the surface. According to the National Library of Medicine, deep sea water has numerous advantages including high purity, stability, nutrition, low temperature, and high in minerals. The refined deep sea water suppresses inflammation. You could just imagine what other benefits would the seawater from 5,000 feet deep have!
Round Lab claims this sunscreen to be a powerful sunscreen, especially for acne-prone & sensitive skin, that blocks the harsh UV rays and cares for healthier skin. Additionally, this sunscreen claims to be easily washable and is removed from the first wash.
Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Sun Cream Ingredients
It’s 2024 and by now, we already have countless sunscreen products that contain skin-loving ingredients and this sunscreen is no exception. Aside from sun protection, it has several active ingredients like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. See the full list of ingredients.
UV Protection
- Uvinol T 150 – is a chemical sunscreen that gives the highest photo-stable absorption of all available UVB filters.
- Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid – is water soluble and fights against the UVA range
- Uvinul A Plus – Filters UVA rays which makes it highly desirable in a broad-spectrum sunscreen
- Polysilicone-15 – A silicone-based, chemical sunscreen agent that protects the skin in the UVB range
- Tinosorb S – Covers the whole UVB and UVA range and hardly deteriorates in the presence of UV light
Additional Goodies
- Niacinamide – Or nicotinamide, is a form of vitamin B3 that has brightening, anti-acne, and moisturizing properties.
- Sea Water – rich in skin-loving minerals and can be anti-inflammatory
- Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid – is a low molecular weight, chemically chopped up version of the naturally big molecule and Hyaluronic Acid, that acts as a sponge helping the skin to retain water, making it plump and elastic.
- Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract – The extract comes from the bark of the White Willow, a big tree that likes to live on riverbanks. It’s famous for containing anti-inflammatory natural salicylates, a close chemical relative to the famous exfoliant salicylic acid.
- Centella Asiatica Extract – It’s traditionally used to improve small wounds, burns, and scratches and it’s also a well-known anti-inflammatory agent
- Pinus Pinaster Bark Extract – A natural plant extract coming from the bark of the maritime pine that grows along the coast of southwest France that contains potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticarcinogenic properties
First Impression on Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Sun Cream
Dokdo sunscreen looks like your regular sunscreen. What’s notable is from the first application, this sunscreen is extremely lightweight, glides easily onto your face, and doesn’t have a white cast.
Packaging
Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Sun Cream is packaged in a standard plastic tube with a twist-off cap, making it easy to dispense without any mess.
Fragrance and Stinging
This sunscreen doesn’t have any fragrance and does not sting even when you put it near your eye areas.
5 Months Into Using Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Sun Cream
Initially, I didn’t care much about this sunscreen because I had my Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics with me and I loved that sunscreen so much! But then, as I used Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Sun Cream every day, I fell in love with it even more.
Texture, Finish, and White Cast
Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Sun Cream isn’t overly creamy and thick. It is extremely lightweight to the touch and after you put it on your face, you won’t feel a thing. No tightness or stickiness even after multiple layers of it, unlike most sunscreens, especially the non-K-beauty ones.
And for those who are over the glowy trend or those who prefer no-shine sun protection, this sunscreen is for you! Picture yourself looking at the mirror right after you wake up in the morning. This is what it looks like on your face. It delivers a natural look, not dewy, not matte, not satin. Natural. And you’ll love it!
Lastly, this sunscreen doesn’t leave a white cast.
Performance Under Makeup
This sunscreen doesn’t pill or interfere with my makeup regardless if I use liquid or powder foundation.
The Verdict
So, what did Round Lab say we’ll get out of this cream again?
Easily Washable
Since this sunscreen is not waterproof, this should be easy to remove. And that is true. I wash my face with a gentle cleanser and never have to wash it again.
Control Excess Oil and Sebum
I get oily on my T-zone and whenever I use this sunscreen, alone or under makeup, I don’t get as oily as before.
Acne-Safe, Non-comedogenic
To me, it’s safe. I didn’t get irritation while using this product.
