Sunscreen Review: Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel was the very first K-beauty sunscreen I’ve ever used and to me, this has set the bar for sunscreen high. I drafted a blog about this sunscreen 2 years ago and now, I can finally share it with you!

About Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel is a UVA/UVB-blocking sunscreen with SPF50 and PA++++. It claims to moisturize the skin like a moisturizing cream and provide deeper moisture with 8 types of Hyaluronic Acid. It has long-lasting moisture, alleviates skin irritation and wrinkles, and enhances moisture and whitening.

Ingredients

There are eight different types of hyaluronic acid in this product that help to hydrate and plump the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Aside from these benefits, there are other noteworthy ingredients in the ingredient list that caught my attention. Here are the ones that stood out to me the most:

UV Protection

• Tinosorb S – Covers the whole UVB and UVA range and hardly deteriorates in the presence of UV light
• Tinosorb M – Provides the broadest possible UV protection, protecting your skin from both UVA and UVB rays
• Parsol SLX – A silicone-based, chemical sunscreen agent that protects the skin in the UVB range 
• Uvinul A Plus – Filters UVA rays which makes it highly desirable in a broad-spectrum sunscreen

Additional Goodies

• Niacinamide – Or nicotinamide, is a form of vitamin B3 that has brightening, anti-acne, and moisturizing properties.
• Pinus Pinaster Bark Extract – A natural plant extract coming from the bark of the maritime pine that grows along the coast of southwest France that contains potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticarcinogenic properties 
• Ceramide NP – Reinforces skin’s barrier strength and contributes to supple, resilient, hydrated skin
• Centella Asiatica Extract – It’s traditionally used to improve small wounds, burns, and scratches and it’s also a well-known anti-inflammatory agent

First Impression

Packaging

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel is packaged in a standard plastic tube with a twist-off cap, making it easy to dispense without any mess.

Fragrance and Stinging

This sunscreen has little to no fragrance, but unfortunately, it stings my eyes a bit. So, I wouldn’t put this product around my eye area.

6 Months Into Using Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel

I was using Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel in the summer months in Dubai where the temperatures go crazy from as low as 37°C to as high as 51°C. That’s 98.6°F to 123.8°F. I know. It’s not as hot as you are!

I use this sunscreen every morning as the last step in my routine after toner, serum, and cream. It has lasted for over three months!

Texture, Finish, and White Cast

Firstly, Isntree be calling this a gel when it looks and feels like a cream. I just gotta get that out of my head.

Secondly, watery consistency in skincare products can be a relief for those who don’t prefer sticky textures. Sunscreens, in particular, are often sticky, making them uncomfortable to wear. I first tried this sunscreen in 2021 when it was still mandatory to wear masks in Dubai, and sticky face products were not an option. This watery sunscreen glides on smoothly onto my face and leaves a glowy satin finish.

And lastly, this sunscreen doesn’t leave a white cast.

Performance Under Makeup

This sunscreen doesn’t pill or interfere with my makeup regardless if I use liquid or powder foundation.

The Verdict

What did Isntree say this sunscreen would give us?

Moisturizing Cream

Make sure not to skip your day cream! While this sunscreen contains hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and other beneficial ingredients, I’ve noticed that my skin feels a bit tight and dry when I use it alone without any moisturizer beforehand.

UV Protection

The Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel is a great choice for sun protection. I pair it with a mask and a bucket hat, which provide additional coverage. I love that it doesn’t cause any redness or sunburn, even when I’m briefly exposed to the sun during work.

Wrinkle Improvement

Unfortunately, I haven’t noticed any improvement in my wrinkles and fine lines while using this sunscreen. But, I can say that this sunscreen might have helped a lot in preventing wrinkle-leading damage from the sun.

Skin Brightening

Living in Dubai means experiencing a pretty intense summer. Although I didn’t see any brightening effect during those summer months, my skin wasn’t as dull as before when I wasn’t using this sunscreen.
