These tinted lip oils may be relatively new in the U.S. but tinted lip oils have been sold in Asian countries for quite a while now. And no wonder why these tinted lip oils from Rare Beauty are made in South Korea!

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil is innovated with jojoba, sunflower seed oils, and other ingredients while giving you a lasting tint after the oil is gone. This gives you a pop of color which leaves a tint while giving you a lightweight and “never sticky” moisturization!

First Impression on Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil

Right after your first swipe of this lip oil, you will notice that it is not the color you see on the internet. It is more vibrant at first as compared to when it fully sits on your lips – which I don’t hate.

But, I just wish it had the same vibrance during the first 10 seconds. See, when it sits on your lips, it gets darker and more intense than the color it used to be right after the first swipe.

But I get why the formula has to be in concentrated hues. I mean the tint is tinting! When there’s only tint left, this is when the name “Soft Pinch” comes into play because there is nothing soft about the tint in the first 30 minutes of wearing this product! Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil is not your common sheer tinted lip product.

Another thing about this tinted lip oil is how it’s giving a subtle minty sensation. Not like a lip plumper. More of a just-brushed-your-teeth kind of sensation. Refreshing and moisturizing at the same time!

2 Months Into Using Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil

The oil in this product lasts only about 1 hour and the tint that comes after the oil lasts up to 2 hours.

I bought 4 shades of these lip oils. Joy and Happy for the summer and Honest and Delight for the winter.

The first photo in each gallery shows how it looks like on my skin tone right after the application. The second, after 30 minutes, and the third after an hour.

I tested one shade after another for four days and these are my unfiltered thoughts.

Joy – my favorite shade of all four!

When I went to Sephora, this was the only shade left on their display. I was quite skeptical at first because why is this the only one that isn’t sold out? Maybe it’s not as good as the other shades? Very wrong! This, I think, is the best shade in this collection.

It stayed true to how orange it was supposed to be (and as it was marketed). And I love orange, and yellow too, or any neon or screaming colors! So maybe this is why I am more gravitated to this shade. After an hour, the orange turns into a bright pink which then turns into a fresh peach tint!

I ordered this online after thinking and rethinking if I should get this kind of pink or not. The shade Happy is described as a cool pink – which I imagined to be like bubblegum pink. But it’s not. At least, not on my skin tone.

This looks beautiful and turns into a dark raspberry shade. It’s just that I already have plenty of lip products that are in the same shade range. And I’m not entirely happy with Happy. So I think I’m gonna have to give her away.

However, if you’re into the 90s lip trend, then you might love it. I found a way to make it work for me by applying a sheer pink gloss on top, which helped to make it more of a nude shade that suited my skin tone.

Starting from the first application until the last bit of tint, you’ll be delighted in Delight! It complements all skin tones and is a foolproof choice. Although, this might be better worn during colder weather.

This incredible product not only lives up to its claim of being lightweight, but it also provides your lips with all the nourishment and comfort of an oil.

Lip Tint

Hands up to the brains behind the innovation of the tint! The tint doesn’t budge even when I drink water, tea, or coffee. Not even when I ate lunch! So this is why strangers on the internet refer to this as a lip tint more than a lip oil.

Would I Buy Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil Again?

In the shade Joy, yes! And I would love to try it in the shades Affection and Hope too. But as much as I love Selena, I would rather buy her dewy lip balms when I need moisture with a hint of color. Or I might just try lip tints from South Korean brands when I need the same lasting lip tints. The price and shade range differences are relatively significant.
