By Sophia Lee Perfecting Blogging Course Review
Your Blogger’s Background
Before I take you to the deets of what’s inside the course, I think it’s essential for you to know where I’m at in this blogging journey. Why? It’s simply because my personal experience might be different from others.
And experience comes with knowledge, expertise, learned tips, tricks, and tweaks.
Some have been blogging for years and some are just starting out. So, the needs and expectations of one can vary enormously from the other.
See, I can direct you to my About page but that wouldn’t be as helpful since I followed Sophia’s suggestions in her Perfecting Blogging Course about that page.
So here, let me go a little bit deeper into my blogging background.
I’m A Writer Wannabe
I’m a civil engineer trying to transition into a full-time blogger and professional makeup artist. Although I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, writing had my heart and soul for as long as I can remember.
Readers here who are writers by heart, let me know in the comments if it’s just me or if you also crave writing at least one long-form content a week like it’s an addiction.
I long to write. It fires me up!
Frustrated with the career I was obliged to take, I scoured the internet for creative writing degrees. But then I looked at my wallet and work schedule and thought it would be tough for me to start like this.π₯²
So I searched again and again about how I could channel my blazing desire for writing into something that’s beautiful and could be shared with many. Insert blogging, which I discovered only in 2022.
From then on, I was on again and off again in blogging. I posted twice a week for 2 weeks. Then once a week for 3 weeks. Then twice a month for months. Do you see where I’m going?
Since 2022, I religiously took free online copywriting, SEO, and marketing courses. Those courses were extremely technical and I kinda liked them, to be honest.
But I knew something was lacking, which must be why I can’t blog consistently.
Why Did I Take By Sophia Lee’s Perfecting Blogging Course?
Cut to January 2024, I was desperate to make this blog work! And just in time, I found Perfecting Blogging By Sophia Lee on YouTube. Since then, I’ve been admiring her!
I’ve since obsessively watched her videos and dissected every aspect of her email newsletter, comparing it to other course creators.
Let me share with you my thought process when I was researching her products and differentiating them from other blogging courses out there:
- Her success story is incredible for someone her age. And she’s younger than me!
- I like how she markets her courses on YouTube. She uses storytelling techniques that her business coaches might have taught her.
- Her purpose for her blog is visionary and wise. I learned that technique in one of the free marketing courses I took.
- She claims to be an A-type person, meaning, she’s the prim and proper, neat and clean kind of gal. And I can see it in her planners. I also knew my clumsy brain could learn so much from someone like her.
- The planners! Haha! I accidentally bought the iPad Daily Planner instead of the Blogging Planner that night when I had too much caffeine. I contacted The Dailee and they sent me the Blogging Planner for free. Now I have both planners and am happy with both!
- Her courses are less expensive than those that may have wider coverage and curriculum, but I wanted to go deep. Not wide.
- Most importantly, I can see that she has an effective and systematic blogging strategy and I want to imitate it!
- Lastly, I need a mentor I can easily connect with and comfortably listen to. As blogging courses are predominantly video-based, I didn’t want to enroll in a course where the instructor’s teaching style gives me ick.
The Courses I Ended Up Buying

Since I started stalking her (for the best possible reasons!), I’ve been eyeing all three of her courses – Perfecting Blogging, Perfecting Pinterest, and Perfecting Email. She has bundled all three of them and I could save 18.4% buying this rather than purchasing her courses one at a time.
Also, I knew she would put her courses and bundles on 20% off in the middle of the year. So, I set aside the money and patiently waited for July to enroll.
But when I got her email newsletter at the end of March 2024 that she was on a 15% flash sale, I couldn’t hold back and purchased the Ultimate Blogging Bundle!
Because if I wait for July, that’s three months of experience lost I couldn’t take back. And I just can’t lie floating in the void anymore. I want to get in action this time!
Today, I’ll be walking you through my Perfecting Blogging course review because out of all three, this is the easiest to implement and it has reshaped my mindset about achieving success in blogging.

What You’ll Learn in Perfecting Blogging

By Sophia Lee Perfecting Blogging course is excellent for total beginners. I remember being underwhelmed after completing half of this course. But then again, I reminded myself that I had enrolled to learn about her strategies. Not the technical side of blogging.
Indeed, you can find almost every piece of information on the internet, and all that technical stuff. If you want to learn more about the technical side of blogging, big and established marketing firms offer free courses.
You can even get their course certificates upon completion!
Even after completing many free and information-packed SEO and copywriting courses, I still consider myself a novice in blogging. Because of this, I want to absorb as many techniques as possible. And I found those here in Perfecting Blogging.
Sophia doesn’t cover all the techy side of blogging in this course but she definitely laid out the foundations of a successful blog.
She almost never talks about the technical side of blogging even in her YouTube videos and I think this is one of the reasons why: her focus is growing her design firm business called The BSL Studios. And I liked that about her. She walks her talk and puts her eggs in different baskets.
So, in this course, don’t expect to hear about internal linking, indexing, backlink techniques, and all those technical topics.
Instead, you can focus on her strategies and mindset. Because honestly, no matter which courses you take, you’ll still end up in Google’s search bar or private group forums whenever you hit a bumpy road.
Also, if you’re anything like me, you’ll wanna know about copywriting skills or tips but nope, it’s also not taught in this course.
Perfecting Blogging Course Curriculum

Perfecting Blogging is a video-based course, much like her YouTube videos. But be prepared to see her look more strict and friendly at the same time. π
As I mentioned earlier, I need a mentor to whom I can easily connect and comfortably listen. And just like her free content, I easily absorb what she puts out in this course because of her teaching style and approach.
Here are the modules and what you’ll learn in this course – all of which you can complete and implement within 1 to 3 days depending on your schedule and where you’re at in your blogging journey:
1st Module – Welcome to the Perfecting Blogging Master Course
- You’ll get a warm welcome and a short introduction to your instructor – Sophia.
- Here, she literally said she created this course to guide her students on how they can replicate her process.
- She also disclaimed that she’ll not teach the technical side of blogging. Instead, she’ll show her students the techniques and tips no one else will tell them.
- There’s also a list of tools you’ll need to follow along with her modules. Most of them are free but there are some you’ll need to pay for.
- This course has a private Facebook group, exclusive to her Perfecting Blogging students. I got into this group a month after I implemented her strategies because I didn’t want to be influenced by the discussions in the group.
2nd Module – Really Freakinβ Important Things You Need To Know About Blogging
- You’ll learn beginner-friendly but strategic keyword research and the cheapest way to do it. I already heard about this before but haven’t really thought about how to incorporate it in writing my blog posts. See, this is why I enrolled in this course. I needed a strategy.
- Whether you’re a total beginner who hasn’t thought of what niche you’ll be getting into or if you’re like me who already has a website set up, you’ll learn how to optimize your content strategy in this module.
- You’ll also learn about the MOST important thing about blogging. And this is true. I’ve heard her say this over and over in her YouTube videos and agree with her on this.
3rd Module – Setting Up A Website That Your Readers Will Trust
- If you’re a total beginner, you’ll get a lot of value on this module and you’ll be setting up your blog the right way.
- You’ll also get a branding guide template so your website will look coherent and put together. The branding guide is the same one in her blogging planner.
- In this module, you’ll get help detaching from that About page you’re twisting your mind over.
4th Module – Content, Content, Content (The MOST Important Thing I’ll Teach You About Blogging)
- You’ll learn the importance of content planning and she’ll show you how to do it right.
- She’ll provide you with a couple of helpful templates you can use to lay out your plan.
- You’ll also learn how to do her keyword research routine and she will show it to you step by step.
- She’ll also show you the different types of content she writes in her blog.
5th Module – The Exact Steps I Take When Writing Every Single Blog Post
- You’ll learn on-page search engine optimization (SEO) and how to incorporate it with your keyword strategy in every blog post.
- She’ll show you how she uses the tools mentioned in earlier modules.
- It’s in this module that you get to finally write your blog.
- You’ll learn how to title your post, what to include in the introduction, the “meat” of the content, and the end of the post.
- She’ll also show you how she writes blog posts using a paid tool called Thrive Architect.
- And she provides you with a checklist of all the steps she just taught when writing a blog.
6th Module – The Techniques I Use To Make Money From My Blog
- In this module, she’ll show you how she’s making money off of her blog via ads and affiliate marketing.
- She’ll also show you how you can optimize your recommendations page to drive income.
BONUS SECTION!
- She’s got 13 bonus modules, y’all!
- These lessons are made because of the high amount of inquiries on the Perfecting Blogging Facebook group.
- It includes what’s her take on backlinks, what plugins she uses in her bysophialee.com blog, other ways of making money from your blog, and a little about social media strategy.

Pros of By Sophia Lee Perfecting Blogging Course
I wish I found Sophia when I started blogging two years ago. But now’s not the time for regrets, but rather a time to carry on and move forward. Always forward.
Here are what I love and have found useful in By Sophia Lee’s Perfecting Blogging course:
- Her teaching style is just like she’s talking to a friend. If you’ve ever experienced being tutored by your kind classmate in school, it’s exactly how it feels like.
- Sophia’s blogging course is an affordable option with comprehensive lessons. Other courses are either more expensive but cover wider topics or cheaper but with less in-depth lessons. Sophia’s course strikes a sweet spot in quality and affordability.
- This course had me finally set up a solid structure for my blogging routine. I imitated her strategies and although I’m yet to see the results, I’m happy that this course served its purpose – to help students replicate her process.
- She focused a lot on the blogging mindset with an emphasis on making your blog a business, not a hobby. She also focuses on return on investment (ROI) and that you should spend the least money possible when starting your blog.
- If someone promises you overnight blogging success, RUN! As Sophia always says: Blogging is hard. If it were easy, everybody would be doing it. It will take MONTHS to see results after you implement her strategy. I’m still in my first month, so let me get back to you when I see the needle move.
- Her video lessons come with transcripts which is helpful when you’re taking notes.
- Her Facebook group is active and the members are nice and very helpful.
- Perfecting Blogging now has a payment plan! When I bought her courses, I had to pay in full. Now, you have the option to split the payment into four for all their courses and bundles!
- Sophia herself is active in the Facebook group and she even responds to the emails promptly. See our email conversation below.

Oh, also, the subtle background noises in her videos with trucks passing by or someone who might be mowing lawns are hilarious!
It’s much like the noises you hear in her YouTube videos. It’s not disturbing at all. It actually makes her more relatable and it makes me feel like this blogging journey is realistically surmountable.
Cons of By Sophia Lee Perfecting Blogging Course
As someone who genuinely loves and appreciates Perfecting Blogging and the incredible work that Sophia has done, I must provide an honest and comprehensive review of the course.
While it’s true that many aspects of the program are truly exceptional, it’s equally important to acknowledge the areas where the course may fall short.
I’ve definitely seen some negative reviews on Reddit about Perfecting Blogging and I can sympathize with them. Here are the reasons why:
- How to build a website from scratch isn’t taught here. This is because she has a free detailed blog post you can read to know how to do this part.
- As I’ve mentioned earlier, she doesn’t teach anything about off-page SEO. You will not learn about the technical side of blogging. Important things like connecting your website to Google Analytics, internal linking strategies, backlink strategies, and all that technical jargon.
- She uses the classic WordPress Editor and a paid tool called Thrive Architect. This is just her preference. As for me, I’m totally doing fine with the free Gutenberg that comes with my WordPress blog. It has practically the same features as Thrive Architect.
- She doesn’t have a deep dive into the monetization techniques for your blog. Now, I think I know why.
- It might be because this course is designed for new bloggers and when you’re new, you NEED to post at least 80% of your content as informational content.
- Informational content doesn’t have affiliate links. And if you’re new, you don’t get accepted to ad agencies or even Google Ads in your first three months of blogging consistently.
- No copywriting techniques were taught except the exact styles she uses in her blogs. Don’t expect to know what font size you should use, the spacing you should consider, and all that grammar and storytelling stuff.
- Lastly, I think we need Perfecting Blogging 2.0 with emphasis on all the above points, the technical side of blogging, and more in-depth monetization techniques of bloggers past the beginner’s level.
Is Perfecting Blogging Right for You?

Ultimately, we must conclude if Perfecting Blogging is right for you.
Perfecting Blogging By Sophia Lee is an excellent course for you if you’re a complete beginner or if your experience aligns with mine.
As I said, I wish I had found Sophia when I started blogging. She’s an inspiration and a great mentor who sets her experience as an example without being distant from her fans and students.
The cons I listed above? They are outweighed by the pros you can get in this course. Her course is fluff-free. She doesn’t waste time in her lessons and gets directly straight to the point.
Now if you’re an advanced blogger and you know all the technical SEO and good copywriting, but your blogs still don’t get traction, I bet you can still learn helpful advice from Sophia and her Perfecting Blogging course!
Perfecting Blogging’s Focus
Remember that this course focuses more on Sophia sharing her strategies with her students. She preaches patience and consistency along with clarifying her intentions why she started blogging.
As she said in her course, blogging can definitely be your sole source of income. But it’s not like that for her. It’s her marketing channel. This is what I meant in what I wrote earlier about what I admire about her.
I’ve learned in the many free courses I did with Hubspot Academy that blogs are the most cost-efficient way of marketing a company.
When Sophia started blogging, she pictured her end goal of having a furniture line through her design firm. And of course, making money blogging was also a great motivator. But look at her now. She’s moved to a bigger office to cater to her growing design firm which her blogs started and still support up to now.
As for me, I have an end goal of changing careers to a professional makeup artist and a renowned beauty blogger. And I suggest you define yours before moving forward. I’ve put together some insights for you to discern in this post.
So this is why you need a mentor whose vision and path align with yours. This is why I enrolled in her courses: to replicate her strategies and success. Tell me when she has a “How to Grow Your Business” course and I’ll take it!
So, you see, setting the right vision for your future in blogging can ultimately help you decide if this is the course for you as you start your blogging business.
Was Perfecting Blogging Worth It?

As for me, I loved this course and I’m SO happy I found this course. I’ve taken another paid blogging course after taking Perfecting Blogging and I have to say that this course is better than the other.
